- Put all the ingredients except ice and soda water into a blender and blitz.
- Add some crushed ice to two glasses. Pour over the watermelon mixture, then top off with a splash of soda. Enjoy!

Frozen Watermelon Daiquiri
Living in Europe, all of our kitchen appliances are pretty small. Small oven, small fridge, small freezer, you get the point. And despite having a pretty small freezer, there is one thing I insist on having in the freezer at all times.
Slushies. Cocktail slushies, to be specific. The alcohol prevents the slushy from freezing completely, meaning you can scoop up a refreshing treat whenever you want (or need). Today’s slush? Frozen Watermelon Daiquiri!
This daiquiri finds its roots in my food hoarding. Despite having that previously mentioned tiny freezer, I tend to freeze all leftovers. I hate the idea of throwing away food, so our freezer is packed with an array of chopped vegetables and fruits for use in future stir fries or banana breads or smoothies.
Obviously watermelon, which always gives you way more fruit that you expect or need, takes up a considerable amount of space in said freezer. But frozen watermelon is exactly what we need for these daiquiris!
To make these Frozen Watermelon Daiquiris, just throw frozen watermelon into a blender along with some Malibu, lime juice and sugar. Blend until smooth and you’re good to go! You can store leftovers in a freezer-safe container or baggie for tasty slushies anytime.
4-Ingredient Blender Watermelon Daiquiris
Ah, blender drinks. Is there anything more enticing this time of year than an icy cold, slushy beverage in your hand? A blended cocktail is, in theory, the perfect summer drink a getaway in a glass.
BUT… let’s be honest. Blender drinks don’t always have the best reputation, and in general, they kind of deserve their bad rap. How many times have you ordered a blended daiquiri – or margarita, or pina colada – on vacation with high hopes for a balanced beach drink, but ended up with a hardly drinkable sugar bomb instead? Or worse: a bland, flavorless, watery mess?
I’m going to let you in on a little secret. Blender drinks aren’t set up for success. Incorporating a large volume of water into your drink – in the form of ice, obvi – adds way more dilution than you’d get in a normal cocktail. Temperature also skews our ability to perceive flavors (we taste sweetness better at warmer temps), and blender drinks are much colder than your average serving temp. So, most people fall into the trap of adding more and more sugar to overcompensate for the lack of flavor. Hence: sugar bomb.
Does that mean we should just give up blender drinks forever? Or resign ourselves to a too-sweet or too-bland fate? Of course not! Dave Arnold, the cocktail guru behind Liquid Intelligence (which you should totally read), came up with a solution for mixing up a perfectly balanced blender drink every single time, using one surprising tool that everyone should really own: the kitchen scale.
Using a kitchen scale to accurately measure exact amounts of sugar and ice allows you to churn out perfect daiquiris at practically the speed of light, never ending up with a batch that’s too sweet or too watery. The other innovation here is adding sugar directly to the booze ahead of time instead of using syrups, which would add too much extra water content to the equation.
I love my bamboo scale from AWS – it’s pretty enough to live on my counter, and I use it at least once a day. I make my cocktail syrups by weight, not volume, and honestly once you start measuring ingredients by weight when you cook or bake, you will NEVER look back. Perfect, repeatable results every dang time.
So now that you can mix up blender drinks without fear, you’re gonna need the right blender. Aforementioned cocktail genius Dave Arnold recommends the Vitamix above all others, and that’s enough for me. But honestly, the newest model is – aside from being one stunning piece of machinery – so user friendly and technologically savvy I’m STILL geeking out over all the things I can do with it.
For this recipe, I’ve added a hint of watermelon juice to the classic daiquiri lime + sugar + rum combo for a seasonal touch. I’m always shocked at how just a little bit of watermelon juice can change a drink so drastically. It packs a lot of summer flavor in a pretty pink package. If you don’t have a juicer, just blend up some watermelon flesh and strain it through a fine mesh strainer to get the juice.
Bonus of blender drinks: easy to make a bunch at a time, and your friends are definitely going to want some. I dare you to not make these on repeat once you try your first sip.
You can garnish with fresh mint, tarragon, citrus wheels or edible flowers – everything looks good with pink!
It’s a Party with Frozen Watermelon Daiquiri’s!
As summer starts revving into full gear it’s time to step up your party game with these fresh Frozen Watermelon Daiquiri’s at your next party! They couldn’t be easier and Fresh From Florida Watermelons are in your market now! I can’t believe the abundance of local products this week at my favorite place to shop. Fresh From Florida produce is everywhere in the markets right now, in fact it is so plentiful that it’s hard to choose what to buy.
These super sweet Sugar Baby Watermelons are just becoming available now. They are so sweet and seedless too. I bought an extra one just to make these drinks with. Some friends were coming over to hang out and at the last minute a family emergency came up. I had so much watermelon cut I decided to go to work! Lucky for me I’m a bartender now at the Elks and today was steak dinner so I went down to share my watermelon with them and had a party there! Last minute party plans work out really well sometimes! Lately I’ve worked so many hours it is my home away from home.
Here my friends are sampling the Frozen Watermelon Daiquiri’s. It’safe to say they were a hit! We’re working on getting a frozen drink machine and as soon as we do these will be available. You can also do what I did and use a blender. Be sure to cut up watermelon chunks and freeze them ahead of time. I’ve kept watermelon in the freezer for up to 4 months just to make smoothies and drinks with.
This week our special is going to be a Watermelon Sangria made with Moscato Wine. I made everyone a sample drink of it also. It is so light and refreshing that you will enjoy serving this sangria all summer long. I cut watermelon wedges to garnish the drink and if you leave it in there for a bit it will soak up some of the delicious flavor of the sangria!

While Carter was out on the grill I added some ears of corn to one side and let them get all nice and toasty. I removed the silks and pulled the leaves back over the ears of corn before placing them on the grill. These were on the grill about 30 minutes before they got slathered with butter and of course salt. Florida Corn has been in the market for about a month now and it’s super sweet this year. Be on the lookout for the Fresh From Florida label.
Dinner is served! Carter cooks up a mean rib eye steak.

We enjoy a good Pina Colada or Hurricane around here. Truthfully, I often just reach for a cold IPA instead of the fruity drinks. However, with the holiday coming up, I figured it was a good excuse to whip up a fun frozen drink. I’d just picked up a watermelon at the grocery store, and that’s when it hit me…why not make a Watermelon Daiquiri? Essentially just make a strawberry daiquiri, but replace the strawberries with watermelon. Yup, that needed to happen!
I wasn’t sure how the watermelon would pair with the rum, but it totally worked. We discovered a new favorite…and it wasn’t difficult to make at all. In fact, the hardest part was just waiting for the frozen watermelon cubes to thaw slightly so that they didn’t jam up the blender. Toss in a straw and garnish with a piece of watermelon, and you’ve got a great summer drink to serve on the back porch! Oh, and an umbrella. Frozen drinks require umbrellas.

- 1 cup loosely packed mint leaves
- 1 cup water
- 1 cup plus 4 tsp. granulated sugar, divided
- 4 (1-in.-thick) seedless watermelon slices, rinds removed
- Cooking spray
- 2 cups ice cubes
- 6 tablespoons (3 oz.) light rum
- ¼ cup fresh lime juice
- ¼ cup club soda
- Fresh mint sprigs
Bring mint leaves, water, and 1 cup of the sugar to a boil in a small saucepan over medium-high boil 1 minute. Remove from heat, and let stand 30 minutes. Chill until cold, about 1 hour. (Mint mixture can be stored in refrigerator up to 7 days.)
Preheat grill to medium (350°F to 400°F). Sprinkle each side of watermelon slices with 1/2 teaspoon of the sugar. Place on grill grate lightly coated with cooking spray grill, uncovered, until grill marks appear, 2 to 3 minutes per side. Remove from grill. Cool slightly, and cut into 1-inch cubes. Arrange cubes on a single layer on a baking sheet, and freeze until solid, at least 2 hours or overnight. Transfer cubes to a zip-top plastic freezer bag, and store in freezer until ready to use.
Process 2 cups frozen watermelon cubes, 2 cups ice cubes, rum, lime juice, and 1/4 cup mint simple syrup in a blender until smooth. Stir in club soda. Pour into 4 stemmed cocktail glasses, and garnish with a mint sprig.
Frozen fruit daiquiris shout "party time!" Our Watermelon Daiquiri recipe is a great way to use a whole watermelon when we're expecting a crowd. This sweet adult beverage can be served minus the alcohol as a slushy if we want to make it kid-friendly.
What You'll Need
- 4 cups seeded watermelon cubes
- 1 / 2 cup light rum
- 1 / 4 cup fresh lime juice
- 1 / 2 cup frozen orange juice cubes (see Note)
What to Do
- Freeze watermelon in a shallow pan for 1 to 2 hours.
- In a blender, combine the frozen watermelon, rum, lime juice, and frozen orange juice cubes process until smooth then serve.
