The egg whites were separated by the yolks. I beat the egg whites with 30 ml of water and a pinch of salt, after which I added spoon by spoon, sugar. Mixing resulted in a meringue. You've probably all eaten poppy seeds when you were little, and I know you'd expect me to glorify just how much this childhood recipe reminds me. Contrary to expectations, I am not one of you, the ones who grew up with poppy "noodles", even though I had a more than happy childhood. I first saw them two weeks ago in a hospital in Cluj, being visiting someone just when the wonderful canteen food was being served. And I was shocked, even if they didn't look very good. I thought then that I should make them, with homemade pasta and a sweet, thick, buttery and sticky white sauce. And I think I did well - I'm not telling you about the texture and explosion of poppy seeds, you probably know. Why did I choose this recipe to represent me in a contest? Well, even if it doesn't represent my childhood or other moments that were marked by gastronomic episodes, this recipe means a typical episode of my daily life, in the sense that it would have haunted me even today if I had not have tried it.

Tagliatelle: 2 eggs, 200 g flour. Mix the eggs with the flour well, knead a dough and leave it in the foil in the fridge for 10 minutes. Then we stretch it and cut it into the desired shape. I tend to keep them in bundles in the freezer, and when my appetite is high, I take out a bunch of people and quickly bury something.

White chocolate sauce: 4-5 tablespoons poppy seeds, lemon peel, 150 g white chocolate, 50 ml liquid cream. The preparation is simple: mix the chocolate with liquid cream on a steam bath so as not to burn it, and when it is homogeneous, add the poppy seeds and grated lemon peel. Cream should be fat, 35% and never vegetable-plastic. Pour the liqueur over the steaming pasta and serve.

I followed this even though it didn't feel right. After a second attempt and instead of mixing on low heat, I mixed on low speed, it turned out wonderfully! Very delicious!
